FPL Tree Maintenance to Clear Powerlines in April

FPL will be mailing a letter informing customers that an FPL authorized line clearing contractor will be working in your neighborhood in the coming months. This notification also states that “if trees or vegetation on your property require trimming away from power lines, a contractor representative will contact you, either in person or by leaving a notice on your door, 1 to 4 days prior to work beginning”.

B-Cycle Bicycle Sharing Program to Launch on December 14.

Broward County will start its Broward B-Cycle program on Wednesday, Dec. 14 to provide residents and visitors an opportunity to help make the area bike-friendly and reduce carbon emissions, offering them an alternative form of public transportation.

Gourmet Food Truck Expo

The city of Fort Lauderdale is co-hosting a gourmet food truck expo on Dec. 8. The event will take place from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. that day at Huizenga Plaza, 32 E. Las Olas Blvd. Twenty-five food trucks will be there along with entertainment and kids activities.


Neighborhood News - Proposal for Vacant Lot

Plans are currently being presented to the city and they are awaiting many approvals for this new project. Stores that are potentially going in – Smashburger, Jason’s Deli and Relax the Back. This will be located at the vacant lot next to Barnes and Noble.


Harvest Drive at Fort Lauderdale High School

It is time to begin working on the 2011 Harvest Drive again and this year marks Harvest Drive’s 19th Anniversary of helping needy families and school children of all ages in Broward County.

Last year over 180 schools participated in Harvest Drive and our efforts assisting 1,582 families (over 6,000 of our neighbors and friends). Naturally, our goal is to have all schools in Broward County and all students actively participating in our “CHILDREN HELPING CHILDREN” community program.

Working for a Greener Fort Lauderdale

The City of Fort Lauderdale is introducing several new or expanded public space recycling programs that provide opportunities for you to be more environmentally responsible.

The Curbside Recycling Program provides curbside bins and weekly service for a variety of materials to all single-family homes, duplexes, and triplexes in the City of Fort Lauderdale.

Some Poinsettia Heights residents will be receiving a letter informing them that an FPL authorized line clearing contractor will be working in our neighborhood in the coming months. This notification also states that “if trees or vegetation on your property require trimming away from power lines, a contractor representative will contact you, either in person or by leaving a notice on your door, 1 to 4 days prior to work beginning”. Also provided within the letter will be a toll free number should you have any questions of concerns. The estimated start time for this work is in September.
