The Safe Routs To School Program is a State Grant Program to provide neighborhood improvements in neighborhoods including sidewalks and crosswalks.

This project will have a direct impact on our neighborhood and will add improvements such as sidewalks and additional crosswalks at key locations in our neighborhood leading to Bennett Elementary and Sunrise Middle School.

The City of Fort Lauderdale Vision Zero Team is heading the grant application process and recently held a public meeting on January 8, 2019 at Bennett Elementary School to identify specific neighborhood needs under the program.

The Safe Routs To School program evaluation initially included Bennett Elementary under the application however; based on neighborhood input, the application is now being modified to include Sunrise Middle School. The Vision Zero team has delayed the grant application until the 2020 application cycle while an additional evaluation for Sunrise Middle School is conducted.
