Board Of Directors Volunteer Program Administrator

The Poinsettia Heights Civic Association (PHCA) a non-profit serving the community of Poinsettia Heights is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to join the Board of Directors as a Volunteer Program Administrator.

 

Under the direction of the Association President and Vice President the Volunteer Program Administrator will serve on the Associations Board of Directors and help shape our neighborhood through the associations volunteer program initiatives.

*** This is a Non-Compensated Volunteer position. The candidate must reside within boundaries of Poinsettia
Heights and either have a current PHCA Membership or become a PHCA Member ***

 

In this position you will be responsible for the administration of the PHCA Green Your Routine volunteer program, recruit new volunteers and develop new volunteer opportunities for our community. You will also participate as a Board Member representing our neighborhood and the PHCA as the Volunteer Program Administrator at meetings and functions, and make recommendations to the PHCA Board on issues impacting our neighborhood for the benefit of the community.

Responsibilities:

 

  • develop and maintain strong working relationships with City of Fort Lauderdale departments, the PHCA

  • Board and with organizations for which you are recruiting volunteers to understand how they work,

  • develop partnerships, and assess their volunteering needs

  • generate appropriate volunteering opportunities and role descriptions based on the needs of the organization

  • raise membership awareness of the role and the function of volunteers

  • ensure there is appropriate support and training for volunteers when applicable

  • promote volunteering (internally and externally) through recruitment and publicity strategies and

  • campaigns

  • interview and recruit volunteers and ensure they are appropriately matched and trained

  • organize volunteer events and provide instructions and training

  • organize profile-raising events to attract new volunteers

  • attend pertinent City Meetings, Association Meetings, Board of Director Meetings and Committee Meetings

Required Skills:

  • excellent communication skills

  • strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a diverse range of people

  • experience of managing or coordinating projects and volunteers

  • an empathy with volunteers and an understanding of their needs

  • the capacity to inspire and motivate others

  • the ability to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity

  • good organizational skills and the ability to manage a variety of tasks

  • administrative and IT skills, and an ability to maintain records and produce clear written and oral reports

  • experience of working across different sectors and developing links with other agencies

  • previous volunteer coordinator experience preferred

  • a flexible and non-judgmental approach to people and workInterested
